Looking over these recent posts, I do see one trend. The ones who seem most happy do indeed have the 4.30 rear end. So if you're getting this truck, it sounds like your plan to do that is a good one.
But on my own experiences, I've had many Fords since 2000. The 7.3, 6.0, 6.4, and now my second 6.7. I've also had the 5.4 and now have the 6.2. I've even had two 2.9s. :p
If you go camping a lot, I would lean toward the diesel. But if this is more your daily driver and considering your mindset of going gas and getting the 4.30, you're probably going to enjoy your gas motor.
As I said, we travel a LOT and I only have the 3.73. That's why I ended up with my second 6.7.
