thinking HTT to TT

Like so many, I'm a little tired of the water damage my HTT has endured.

We are looking to TT.
Just came from a decent size show in Toronto and will go to another show in 1 month.

Nothing jumped out at me.
perhaps you guys can point me in the right direction.

I pull with a 5.4L F150.
would like to stay below 5500LBS
we don't bring a ton of cargo with us and the 4 of us total about 500LBS - total not each :)

the main thing we like about or HTT is the slide out. I think its a t least 10'

thanks for any help at all.

  • Lots of options for you!

    Funfinder 242BDS

    Shadow Cruiser 260

Rockwood 2702SS which is a lot like my North Trail 28BRS

    Keystone Bullet 252
  • We had this discussion at our house this past spring. Dearly loved our HTT and no water issues, but age crept up on us and it was getting to be more of a chore than we wanted. We also have the F-150 CC 5.4. Our max is 8000#.

There isn't a huge selection to allow for 4 to sleep between where you are now and where you'd like to be. We found the Rockwood Ultra Lite 2604 perfect for us. BUT, something like that requires either the bed or sofa be made up for the extra 2 unless you go to a bunkhouse. Our GVWR is 6629 on the new TT.

Suggest you get a comfy chair and start looking online with RVwholesalers and RVDirect. They both sell many different brands, floorplans, pictures and sometimes video. Most times they have specs, but not always complete ones. You can get an idea of what's out there and then start a search for the specific models you might be interested in. If you're interested in either RVW or RVD, there are many satisfied campers on these forums. We bought both of ours from RVW. No games. They show an MSRP and will email you the actual price quote but you can guestimate at about 30% off and be pretty close. Allowing for travel expenses, on our HTT we still saved over $4000 and more on the TT. Save yourself some driving around. If you decide to buy locally, you have a good negotiating tool by printing out their quote. Happy shopping!
  • If you like the bigger trailer size without the longer towing length then consider the Outback line of TTs by Keystone. Similar to the HTT in that they expand on the end but with solid slide outs instead of the leak prone tents.

Not sure if you want bunks but here's an idea. Seems to be the only model left in that size with the rear slide, used to have lots of different floor plans.

Rockwood makes a couple. Here and here
  • man I would be looking at floor plans before I went to a show. many of the companies have almost the same plans, once you get to a show it gets a little over whelming at times. google some of the different names in rv'ing like keystone, nash, arctic fox etc.
