Thinking of getting into the TT market
I am a total newbie, I am thinking of buying my first travel trailer... my wife and kids are sick of the tent. I have been looking at a Jayco Swift SLX, but I don't know the first thing about RV'...

Your Chevy Traverse is really going to severely limit your options in a travel trailer for family. (you said wife and kids).
Maybe going to a light weight hybrid might be a direction to took.
Traverse: MAXIMUM PAYLOAD 1753 lbs is the big problem.
Hopefully others will climb on and give you a more positive outlook for towing a family travel trailer with a Travers.

The Traverse is a good choice for a TV. Many on the Airstream forum are towing small to large TT's with the Traverse and all have good reviews.
Note many folks have dumped their Suburbans and pickups for a Traverse and have been calling it an "upgrade".
Take it from there.
