TomG2, you're probably right about the reason for the law. It's just that this never, ever occurred to me that it might be a problem.
I really doubt that the neighbors had anything to do with this. One side is my son, other side is new folks renting who don't have a car to park anyway, and have their own house to park in front of if they did. I believe it was just a random cop with too much attention to detail.
