I had the same thought come to me recently when a camper, in a not so good spot, saw by our posted departure date on the site # pole. We had a really nice spot, probably the best in the campground, and she asked if we were leaving the next day. I informed her that we were thinking of staying longer. Well she kept walking by our site and would stand in the road and just stare us down. I went and paid for an additional week, as we were planning to do anyway, then posted the new document in it's proper place. After that, she and her entourage began flipping us off and pointing at us as they repeatedly walked by our spot. That night I had this awful thought that they could turn our handle inward. Then I thought about the emergency exit. I am physically disabled but at least I knew my wife could exit by the window if necessary so off to sleep I went. P.S. I never mentioned the thought to my wife who would have not slept at all for worry. Guess I'll check to see if I can open the door with the handle across the door.
