The cars/trucks are required to be destroyed. this comes from the manuf.! no one has any idea what kind of stress they were under during the accident.
years ago there was a cargo ship carrying new cars into our country. it hit something and listed sharply, more than a 45 degree angle! all cars were destroyed for the same reasons. unknown stresses to the body and the leaking fluids (battery acid) that could weaken the frames.
Terrible, but necessary!
