Hi Oz,
It needs to be kept from freezing only when in operation. My fridge on average has been "frozen" seven times per year, as I have done lots of winter camping.
If you read the winter camping link you might notice that only one vent is left open at the bottom to restrict air flow. The top, is, of course normally open.
I have a dual fan "mask" over the top that helps restrict air flow in the winter time--and helps with cooling in the summer time.

I don't think a 100 watt light bulb is going to do much at 10F with the wind blowing thru the compartment which is open top and bottom.
