Yes Mini-Vans are terrible for towing..285 HP, 1100-1500 lbs of payload, wide stances, low center of gravity, and good handling all make for a terrible towing experience.
actually, they are superb tow vehicles when used appropriately... No, I'm not advocating using a Minivan to pull a 10k lb trailer but for a PUP they are EXCELLENT tow vehicles. Especially when used with a WD hitch and sway control.
Never mind that they are extremely versatile, easy to load, easy to reconfigure from passenger hauling to cargo hauling.
Another excellent choice is the Chevy Traverse, Ford Explorer, Ford Edge, Grand Cherokee, and Dodge Durango.... Probably more..
There are so many more options than a Truck.
My choice is in my sig BTW...
Thanks!

I think if I could find a certified pre-owned Caravan with the factory tow package (transmission cooler, hitch and 7 way pin setup), I would do it in a heartbeat.
I went to Dodge here last week and asked about one, but the sales manager couldn't remember ever having one traded in. He said, what if you buy a van here and we put it in? I said, can you put it in writing that having it installed afterwards will not affect the warranty and he kind of hemmed and hawed about that and just told me some anecdotal stories about the times he deed see Chrysler void a couple warranties.
If money wasn't a factor, I think I would just go with a 4Runner. I was very happy to see it come up in mentions in other posts. That seems like a vehicle I could just load up and go without much thought based on what we have.
