Thoughts on this trailer: DUTCHMEN AEROLITE M-718QB-SL

Helping out my sister who is looking for a under 20' trailer. There are many to choose from and I'm not up to speed on them (we have a Class C).
Trailer looks to be in excellent condition, tires very good, all electrics work, and can't see any problems anywhere. Private party wants $11,500. We will have a experienced rv trailer person inspect. Has slide out kitchen and rear bath. Has queen bed in rear. Year is a 2010 and owner says weight of 3252lbs. THoughts on this trailer? Many thanks.
  • You can buy new in that range for not much more, my 18' bunkhouse was $12,500. I'd be looking for about $4k off that asking price for an 8 year old trailer. Heck, that trailer was $14k retail. Wish I could get 8 years use out of a trailer for only $2,500 lol.

Its worth about half of that. Look at the build date on the tell-tale yellow sticker. A 2010 could of been built as early as late 2008 so it could be 10 years old. And although Aerolite was building great stuff back then (a sub brand of Dutchman mfg), they had flat roofs, which is a subject for another thread.
  • By “tires very good” you mean less than three years old and rated at, or hopefully above, the load range specified by the manufacturer? Or was there “lots” of tread?

3,252 pounds isn’t that light. Winnebago TTs at 21 feet are a dry 3,700-3,800 with tamdum axels.
  • Thank you all! Upon looking at new or 2 years old similar models, indeed this trailer is way overpriced. Our search continues. Any favorite brands if she wants to go new? Thinking she could go new as the Fall/Winter season shows prices coming down for new (and likely used).
  • I know I'm gonna to get yelled at ,but that is not a good quality brand....Ken
