Thoughts on Tires

Time to replace the 255-65R-17 LTX- A/S Michelins on my f-150. Looking to go to 275-60R-17 BFG T/A's. Close enough to the same rolling diameter not to need a speedo change, add about 200lbs to the load rating, 10,000 mi more tread warranty, and they are cheaper. Any thoughts on this?
  • Bridgestone Duravis R500s in LT245/70/17 and will probably be the last tire you'll ever put on the truck.
  • Had very good service from BFG's on my previous 3/4 ton. That's what's going on my current truck when its time.
  • If I were inclined to go away from Michelin, what you're considering would be my choice as well.

Happy camping!!! See y'all down the road!!!:)
  • I have had mostly good luck with the Michelins,

my truck 2x4, 2500 dodge, takes a 265/70-17 A/S load range E tire, so they are heavier and stiffer.

with that size tire, if you get one that is not top quality it will vibrate you to death,

however, I have had some problems over the years with sidewall splitting on the Michelins, both on my truck and car. Hopefully, as I just installed a new set the other day that problem is fixed.

be sure to get new heavy duty valve stems, all around, I also dropped the un- used spare (truck is a 2005 model) and replaced it with one of the best tires that was on the ground.

might have been a waste of a good tire, but I want the newest tires I can get, if I am out on a hot road and have to use the spare.

    good luck,
