Most trailers use a rubber roof that has to be caulked. Without frequent upkeep, the trailer will get water damage and fall apart. So, essentially this is a self destruct system in place no matter how good the owner maintains their trailer.
The trailers that will be the ones that will last will not just be Airstream, but the institutional looking Camp-Lite travel trailers. They are all aluminum, and a company spokesperson states that they do not possess a single staple gun. They even have models with slide-outs (Lippert aluminum, of course.)
Were I buying a small TT, I'd go with a Camp-Lite just because they are far more resistant to water damage than most stick/tin trailers, and they won't delaminate.
I'm pretty sure that that was my runner up brand. the only thing that killed it was the fact that none of the small units had a sink/vanity inside the bathroom.
