For hauling a TC on a SRW I'd get the gas engine. This will give you more available payload. Especially if you're towing the jeep on a trailer that will contribute tongue weight. If you're flat towing that wouldn't matter.
The added expense, DEF, maintenance, and fuel costs have made it very hard to justify a diesel anymore unless you're really towing or hauling heavy which you are not. I have an '05 Duramax and I had an '07. They were/are great trucks but if I were buying a new one for hauling my camper and towing my boat I think it would be a gas truck. Likely a RAM with the 6.4 Hemi.
Ford or Chevy? Wow. Really. Did you like your Chevy? Then get another one. If it didn't give you good service maybe you have reason to switch. My experience with many Chevy trucks has been excellent. Based on my experience with 2 Ford 6.0 I wouldn't take a Ford if it was given to me.
