At any rate I'm still struggling with what to get. There's an issue with every option; I don't know why it takes so long for these companies to learn from each other and their customers; do they not read the reviews? And it still amazes me that they don't bother to order a backup camera on any truck, or trailer brake controllers and mirrors on trucks with a tow package, especially considering what these things cost and the other more expensive options they put on.
I looked at the HD options but I really don't need that much and this will be my daily driver so mileage is somewhat of an issue. I've seen great deals on the gas ones, but the diesels are more than I want to pay when equipped how I want -- true, not that much more than some of the the other trucks, but I have to draw the line somewhere. But towing equipment and payload are always there so I'll still keep any eye on them.
I started leaning back towards Dodge, but the low payload capacity is a turn-off, and my dog would really appreciate the flat floor in the Ford. I finally did find a few F-150's with trailer mirrors, but they were all pretty loaded. The only thing I really need above the base models is lumbar support, but you can't get that without spending thousands more. I've tried a million lumbar cushions and didn't like any; you just need a thin layer of tapered foam.
