- Dave_PeteExplorer III too must replace soon.
I have always loved my BFG AT KOs. And ran the BFG AT Rugged Trails that came on my new 2006 Dodge Ram 2500 until they wore out. Then bought (what was available in Fairbanks) a set of studable BFG Commercial ATs for our Jeep Cherokee. LOVED ALL OF THESE except the Rugged Trails sucked in the snow. They were a much milder tread that the KOs.
Began researching replacement tires about a year ago and discovered MANY online complaints about sidewall rubber deterioration and it simply falling apart! All based on a new rubber compound used by BFG. It scared me. My neighbor gave me a used set of his NEWER Rugged Trails that he had sitting in his garage and they are on now to finish out their wear. I am seeing that sidewall deterioration others have talked about!
I have been leaning toward the Michelins, but someone here said they are using a faulty rubber compound? I was leaning toward a milder AT due to travel trailer towing but now looking at a truck camper and more offroad use so will probably get the KO ATs again and hope they don't fall apart. :/

BFG A/T's 265 75 r16 rated at 3400 lbs plus. Excellent wear, exellent traction, quiet for what they are. The white letters are the best looking tire made IMO. They have an extra stiff sidewall. I am buying a set myself this week, mounted balance with FEA under 1k. I have the same tires on my other truck have 37000 on them. Someone asked me a few weeks ago where did you get the new tires. Best of all they are made in Akron Ohio USA, by hard working americans. I don't run chinese tires.
THIS ONE!!
Been running BFG 265 AT "E" on my truck for as long as I can remember (30+ years)- excellent tires. All weather - good on dirt, gravel, road, highway. Multi-purpose when it means it and needs it. - bighatnohorseExplorer II

I put BFG Rugged Trails "E"s on mine and they have performed very well.

Same here. . .the factory equipped originals lasted 80,000 miles - mostly with the camper on.
Mostly drive black top, some dirt, a little washboard, no snow to speak of and no beaches.
So I went with same tires for replacements. - FreeLanceingExplorer IIBFG A/T's 265 75 r16 rated at 3400 lbs plus. Excellent wear, exellent traction, quiet for what they are. - 3_tonsExplorer IIIPersonally I would now avoid Michelin...I have LTX M/S E series on Dodge dually and all six sidewalls are cracking...I was told that Michelin switched to a soy ingredient in their rubber compound (a 'green' thing) that's causing the issue...Dealer will happily pro-rate but at only pennies on the buck...I paid a premium for 6 Michelins but now wish I hadn't. JMO...
3 tons - Old-BiscuitExplorer IIII'll X3 the Michelin LTX A/T2
I have 17" rims.
Changed out the OEM tires at 15K due to lack of traction in wet grass.
Got 60K out of first set of A/T2s towing 14K 5vr full time.
Now on 2nd set.......have 25K on them and very happy with them. - vanderjwExplorerWhat rim size are you needing? I can say that in 20" the goodyear Wrangler SRA tires are very good. They were original on my Silverado w/20" wheel option. I just replaced the originals after more than 84,000 miles with the same tires. Summer daily driving and towing performance is great. Winter the tires are OK, but Blizzaks are much better. The tires are quiet also.
- sundownersExplorerI was also having problems finding replacements for my old BFG Rugged Trails mainly because they are 17" rims------I was very lucky to find brand new Firestones being taken off new trucks (to replace with bigger alloys and tyres (tires)----I got them VERY cheap because there is no demand for that size in the UK :B--------I wrecked one in Portugal and had to have one shipped from Germany---and pay the full price :(.
At the time we were living in a 5er and had nowhere to store any more new Firestones or the best of our 'old' tyres, that was a real shame!!
To be totally honest----I really miss the BFGs and don't think the Firestones will live as long as they did. The Firestones have gone from the very North to the very South of Europe (and more) and seem to be doing the job just fine.
My choice would still be BFG Rugged Trail (if I could get them in Europe----and afford them)
Nigel - Area13ExplorerGoodrich All Terrain T/A KO Love 'em. Built like a brick !@#$ house, ride nice, good traction in all areas, not too loud, last forever, proven for many years, good price and look good.
- cristoforiExplorerHave a look at Michelin - LTX® A/T2...Tire Rack has them in E rated...Costco too. Very quiet...good wear. On sale if you buy a set.
