Niche within a niche. Pretty small production numbers. Takes a lot to pay off the equipment they bought to make these or they are contracting out to a small fab'er and asking for small runs.
Plus, these days, Western manufacturers/designers have to calculate in making money in 'X' number of months/years before the anticipated/predictable/despicable rip-off's that China will puke out and kill their sales.
But this is also why I point and laugh at union workers that complain about wages or lay-offs whilst shopping at Wal-Mart.....
