I agree with 4x4Dodger. It's all about your personal preference and schedule. I've driven back and forth from FL to MD and vice versa straight through without towing anything. Thats 1000 miles and I knock it out in a day without much issue. I like the benefit of driving at night because of less people, which means less stupidity on the road. It's just us and the truckers. The downside of driving through the night, especially if you're going straight through for 1000 miles is that by the time you get to your destination, you're exhausted and you rushed to get there only to sleep and get your schedule out of whack. I've found if I leave around 7am, I can get to MD by 10pm and that makes for the ideal trip.
I'm planning on taking my TT up to MD in a month and the goal is to go straight through. I'm trying to get to Ocean City to meet up with family for the weekend, but can't leave until my girlfriend gets off work on Thursday. As long as I get to my spot before midnight on Friday night I'll be good to go. Luckily I'll have to stop every 200 miles or so for gas, so thats when we stretch the legs, take a break, walk the dogs, etc... and it keeps us pretty fresh.
Just stay in tune with how you feel and take the break when you need it. Keep everyone safe and enjoy the trip!
