i especially appreciate all the comments on going slow..ie we never exceed 65mph.
and we plan stops along the way that are both fun and practical.
this last run was South Carolina Friday evening after work > LaGrange Ga by about 10pm. Stopped at a Pilot/Fly J for the night (don't know if they have those in your area..but they are very pro-campers..always let you stay in the lot..and they have a website with mapquest style function that lets you see where all their stations are on your planned route.
anyway
saturday - all day gem mining - then spent the night off grid on the mine property with owner permission..genny purring while we watched a movie...
Sunday -drive the mornign up to Huntsville with camp sight reserved at the Space Camp...from that base camp we drumped the TT and drove to visit family for the evening..
Monday morning - pulled out for Arkansas...Ouatchita lake - national/state? park camping..beautiful place...water/power connects..dump station...right on the lake...that was home base through Thursday night as we visited several gem mines in the area...
Friday morning we headed a couple hours back and spent the night at a larger mine that had some camp sights..water/power and a bath house..
Saturday - began the drive homeward - making it back into Tenn right at the NC line where we again spent the night at a Pilot which put us just 10 mins from family that drove in to meet us for breakfast..nice couple hours visit..then the rest of the drive home...in by about 5...clean camper...and crashed! lol.
in my younger days..it woulda been a hi top conversion van..4 kids in the back..drive all night n day for 12-16 hrs til i got htere like it was some kind of championship...
