You can try to jack it up even higher. The higher you go the less tension will be on the bars. I jack mine fairly high, well beyond the stock height of my truck. When I undo my latches they rotate fairly effortlessly. Also make sure the spot where you're unhooking has the truck and the trailer on the same level with each other. When the tongue dips, extra tension is put on the bars.
