If you have the space and wheel size for LT tires they are an alternative. If you don't there are better choices in ST tires that can be very successfully used. I have used ST tires since 1998 with great results.
I've got your beat by about 3 years since I ran GY Marathons exclusively since 1995 up until last year when I decided to get fancier rims and went the Kumho 857 route. In fact both the trailers I have had since 1995, one from 82 to 07 and this current one from 07 to present ran 14" ST tires that were loaded on the first trailer within 250lbs of max capacity on each tire (6K to 6,200 lbs) on 205R75x14 STs and on the second to within 100lbs max capacity (6600 to 6800lbs) on the same sized ST tires. I switched to the Kumhos mainly to get a little more reserve capacity since it just made sense to me and to get around the 65mph speed limit when needed. Plus I got the fancy aluminum rims that I always wanted and ditched the mediocre steel white painted spoke rims.
