Tire chains for 19.5 DRW

I've never used chains on my pickup, but my first class A motorhome had 19.5 tires and I used cable chains on just the outer duals. It worked great. My next motorhome had 22.5 wheels and I only chained the outers on that one, too. It also worked very well. If local regulations don't require you to chain all four rear tires, there's no reason to do it, IMO.

First there is a law that even with 4WD when you have big load or tow, you need chains.
For highway use get cables. Much easier to install, lighter , the rolls last long time and you can drive with them on at decent speeds.
Than for real powder you will need real chains.
Being welder, I was buying car chains for $5 a set at garage sales and welding the links to the length I need.
Good cables in this size run in the range of $200 and more.

Chains are kind of a formality if four wheel drive unless you have your trailer. Still, I carry two sets from Led Schwab. I haven't used them with the TC. To be legal, you only need to put them on the outers. It it is bad enough that you truly need them, it would be too icy for me to travel.

Also, if towing you might pick up a set of drag chains for the trailer.

I have low profile chains from Les Schwab that can be used on the front or rear axle. At a certain weight, you may have to chain up even if you have 4wd. I use cable chains for my trailer but try to avoid snowy passes when towing.

What do you mean by "drag chains"?

I picked up a set of cable chains from O'rilleys auto parts in Wa. for my 19.5 tires on my rv. I hope I don't have to use them but they are there if needed.
