Tire defect?

Before loading my truck camper, I was standing around waiting on the SO to bring my keys, and while picking the rocks out of the treads (JK), I noticed a concave area in the sidewall, perpendicular to the rim. So, I looked at the other tires. Both rear tires, inflated to 80 PSI, had the spot. After loading the camper, I noticed it in the front tires, 76 PSI, as well. One of the front tires has the concave spot in two places, about 4" apart. Is this normal? A by-product of the production process?
Pics are the same rear tire, different angles, with my truck bed completely empty. You can see the spot I'm talking about just before the "A" in All Terrain, intersecting the area where the arrow shape (formed in the sidewall) comes to a point. The tires are LT285/65R-18 Goodyear Wrangler A/T Adventure with Kevlar.

  • It's funny what tire dealers will say... I was told it's where the steel band was to hold the tires onto the pallet when they are shipped. Didn't believe it for a minute.

Anyway, didn't seem to affect the tire. Have seen it on others.

Yes, I was told that is where re-enforcement material over laps. (Doesn't mean it's a fact or not, just what I was told with same looking tire)
