GM has put standard aluminum and forged aluminum rims on its trucks and they have a different load capacity. No point in putting tires rated for 4,000 lbs. on rims rated for 3200 or less.
You also need to know the width of the rims on your truck. Lots of higher load rated tires require a 7.5" or wider rim. If you have non-forged 7" aluminum rims then I would recommend getting new rims as well as new tires.
A higher load rated tire is going to be larger but if it is 1" taller that means it only protrudes 1/2 inch further forward and backward from the spindle. Same applies to a tire that is an inch wider as half that width is how far the wider wider tire will extend past the centerline of the rim.
Often guys (of course as it is a guy thing) will buy a truck and then want to put on new chrome or black rims and 35 inch tires. Stupid but it means you can pick up a set of new rims and tires for a good price. Be aware that GM changed the bolt pattern starting in 2011 so trucks of that model year or newer will have rims that will not fit your truck. The good news is that there are a great many rims available for the old pattern than for the new one.
