ticki2,
I know you didn't question my post as I was just adding info but I had started it as a reply to your post. My personal friend "silversand" will be reading these posts and much was for him too. All is good.
For tires, I do the same as I always go up at least one size from the OEM tires on all our vehicles when I replace the originals as we only buy new vehicles. Been very good to us and for my business as the tires are not anywhere near their max load capacity then and they last a lot longer before tread is about gone. What? About $10 more per tire and get 25% more life! Sure makes sense to me!
Speedometer on the 2004.5 was very close but not right on per my GPS. The GPS read 59.5 or 59.6 when the speedometer said 60 mph on cruise control. I have to call that close and of course that was when the OEM 245's were new and had full depth tread back in April of 2004. I have 2 handheld GPS units for use on my boats and a Tom Tom in the truck. Just for kicks I tried it with all 3 and of course they were within 1/10 of a MPH. The Tom Tom however only gives whole numbers for speed.
Our new big screen Samsung Galaxy 5 has the Ulysse Speedometer app on it and it's fantastic and also agrees with the others too but my wife hogs that new phone however, she's always with me anyway. It gives gobs of info on the app while traveling, including altitude and it's very accurate too. Even shows me when I step up on a curb from the road surface. Kind of like being spied on! Guess I'll have to get one too as soon as my contract is up in a couple months.
