My '03 2500 Dodge/Cummins 2wd came with LT265/70-17" E LTX AS tires. They were a very mild HT type tread that got me stuck on green grass if on a slope or trying to pull a trailer up a slope.
The dangz things lasted over 100k miles. I replaced them with Bridgestone Revo AT tire. They were 100 percent better in snow/ice/mud and green grass conditions.
I found a good AT type tire works better for my use especially over a full MT type tire with those large lugs and voids. I keep a pair for the rear for deep snow and mud however they can loose traction on wet pavement and helpless on ice or snow pack roads.
Other folks have their favorite type of tread for a pickup truck.
