We did the cover thing diligently for the first couple of years. We discovered we spend so much time RVing from Spring through Autumn that we now just deploy it during the winter months where rig is winterized and stored in our side yard for roughly 4 months.
Does help but be careful to get the cover as close to a perfect fit as possible as the wind will cause chafing with one that is loosely fit. It becomes a hassle if you go out weekly like we do, we wax and use 303 protectant at Spring start-up and we're good to go for the active camping season.
