With that truck and TT I wouldn't waste the time for WD. If the TT's loaded right you shouldn't have any trouble. I towed a similar sized TT with an F150 using one friction bar. It broke during a trip and I never knew it broke till I got home. Never noticed any difference at all.
BTW nice choice in trucks. You'll love the CTD.
The friction bar is for sway control, not WD. Many WDH don't even have sway control.. two separate functions.
Sway control isn't needed if the trailer is properly loaded, but WDH might be.
As others have said it is not "needed", but it sure is nice with it setup properly.
560lbs on a 2500 is a drop in the bucket. My 2500 drops 2" with 1800lbs of pin. I bet that truck wouldn't drop more than a 1/2" He definitely won't need a WDH. But unless the TT is balanced properly he may need sway control.
I don't think anyone has said he will need it, but it will drive better with it.
Been there and done that with my 18CK TT that was not more than 5200lbs loaded on my SRW 3500. I never needed it, but I sure liked it.. and not for sway.
560lbs that far behind the rear axle may not drop the rear axle much, but it will pull quite a bit off the front. Driving on uneven roads will increase the weight reduction, and that is where WDH is nice even with a low tongue weight.
