What is the easiest way to make toast? Oven or stove top? I don't want to carry a toaster BLT season is here, and I got a hankering.

I use my microwave, but the toast gets harder than some people like it. More like a crouton. When I was growing up, my mom cooked toast over the flames of the stove.
