I use cast iron on stove top inside or propane outside. Heat pan add dry bread flip a few times.... also warm bagels, reheat pizza etc by adding a iron lid, preheated on separate burner. Make sure well seasoned pan, sometimes I lightly oil, wipe dry with papertowel before adding bread etc. Love cast iron...need oven try old fashioned dutch oven.

My Wife butters both sides and fries it in a skillet until golden brown. It's actually pretty good and doesn't take long.
Kind of like a grilled cheese sandwich with no cheese.

You can always use one of these and just hold it under a slice of bread and move it around.



If you don't have one one these, I vote for the stove top.

What is the easiest way to make toast?

Alternate: Stovetop. An oven would be inefficient and just add more heat inside during already hot weather.

I would say toast bread over an open fire, but you did ask for the easiest way.

I don't have a regular oven, so I say stove top. :)
