I also have someone camping with me that uses much more paper than I do. I prefer to stay with something that breaks down, so I don't have to deal with build up or repeated flushes. The extra cost of the RV paper is peace of mind and is not that that expensive if you stock up when on sale locally.
Typically I get the tank to half or greater level with water before opening the blade valve and have not had trouble in any of my RV's.
Working more than full time and still getting away precludes me from testing paper samples from various vendors to see if they are compatible with my tank. There's places and people to see instead of watching paper dissolve or cleaning out holding tanks and sewer hoses.
