Tools you pack along in your TT?

I unfortunately carry enough tools that I could build MOST of a Boeing Jet liner at the campsite and have used VERY few of them over the years. I have ALSO stopped at hardware and auto parts stores to purchase the item I ACTUALLY need on several occasions. Sounds like you have it about right. Take the minimal needs and be prepared to purchase the specialty things you MIGHT need some day WHEN that happens. It's very much like carrying spare parts inventory. Odds are you would NEVER have the actual item that is needed when you need it so might as well just purchase what you need as you need it. Even in the extreme back country where I camp mostly, just about everything is available with just a little effort.
