I typically camp (boondock), and NOT near a Walmart or hardware store. This list doesn't take up much room and has served me very well. Just about everything else is luxury:
Saw, axe (hatchet), shovel, knife
Briefcase toolkit
String, rope, zip ties
Electric, Gorilla, Eternabond, Aluminum tape
Multimeter, crimper, scrap wire sections, various electrical connectors
1/2" ratchet with an extension and socket for each of the large nuts/bolts on the trailer hitch assembly.
Siphon hose, rubber gloves, leather gloves
Various pieces of 2X6 lumber
