I have to agree, I think the OP is being a little overly critical here. This wasn't a show-stopper. Any number of things could have been done. Grab a couple from a neighbor? Load up, head out, and the first hardware store I ran across I would have then grabbed some. I think it's not fair to publicly bash any company when the fix is so simple. They're just half inch lock nuts....Don't you have some laying around? I hope you didn't just grab the 3 you need... You grabbed extras for the next time you need some, right? I find it hard to believe you turn your own wrenches but don't have any nuts.
I have a large 'box o nuts n bolts', and I'd a just grabbed a couple out after digging through my nuts n bolts box.
