torklift glow steps report

I have already suggested to Jay Taylor that they look into designing a Spring loaded locking pin to replace that pin. Although they are easily obtainable, you are correct, easy to lose.

I just installed the Torkelift 3 step unit on my TT. So far I think they are a better step than the Flexco that I removed. The Flexco steps were starting to Rust after a year and they were much heavier than the Torklift product.
I had to remove the original mounting Brackets that were on the TT as they were 3/8 too narrow for the Torklift steps to fit into. I also found that because there is little clearance side to side it was easier to install the mounting bracket and then put the Torkilft steps up as an assembly.
All In all it took about 3 hours to assemble if I could have just removed the Flexco steps and mounted the Torklifts it would have been less than an hour.
As far as operating them it is fairly easy. I had them on an incline and put one side of the landing feet out 1 notch further than the other and they worked fine. I think the safety pin that Torklift makes a point out of telling you to install during use and storage, should have a safety wire keeping it connected to the stair assembly.
I think there is plenty of adjustability and I think they will work fine in most terrains.
The deployment is a little longer than the Flexco but as the OP said I am retired so not a problem.
Two downsides are that the landing feet protude up ever so little above the front of the bottom step at the corner and I wonder if it will be a trip point. The second downside is the Safety Bail Pin is not an integrated part of the stairs and is an extra step during those quick in and outs such as the rest area. With a little design effort the safety could have been provided with a tab that would be moved out of the lock position before deployment. Maybe a little nit picking but I can see that Bail pin getting lost on a regular basis.
I think the Revolution Glow steps will be a great after market product Certainly more stability at a light weight. PArt of the pressure is taken by the landing feet so less strain on the side of the TT. They are aluminium so they will look better for a much longer time and no rust.

My big problem is my own absent mindedness. Torklift actually approached me before the steps were released back in May to field trial them, and I turned it down due to my fear of driving away with them touching the ground. I had previously trialed stable loads when they first bought out the lower ones for the GM a few years ago, since they know I spend 5 months a year RVing in Mexico where roads can be challenging. I decided to re-consider the steps, and I am glad I did. I have yet to encounter a bad, or even mediocre product, from this company, plus I like the fact they are North American, not Chinese. I get tired of having to support products made in a country that I have suspicions about. I would rather pay more for products made in the US or Canada when possible and Torklift is 100% American and I make no apologies for sounding like a mobile ad for them, on that basis alone. My solution to forgeting about the steps is to always hang a note on the steering wheel.

We have the GlowStep Revolution on our Minnie Winnie 2101DS and I have to agree that this is the best modification that I have done. The stability is excellent. With the RV fully loaded for a camping trip like we are currently on, the landing gear is at the top position (least telescoped). My old steps were bolted on. The only problem mounting the GSR was the trailer mounting bracket which was welded on interfered with the two pivot bolts that stick out of the GSR frame sides. This is not to hard to fix. Remove the two pivot bolts, bolt the frame in place, drill two 3/8" holes through the trailer step mounting bracket using the holes in the GSR frame as a guide and re-install the pivot bolts. Not all trailers need this modification, just depends on the mounting bracket.

So far on our current camping we have traveled over 1000 miles and 3 camp grounds and I can't find any drawback and some very good advantages.

Welded. Torklift Central in Kent, Wa, which is the retail arm of Torklift removed the old steps & installed them. It was easy for me to take them in, since I was passing right by there on my way south. They did say the weld was breaking on the factory steps. The trailer is only a year old.

Merrykalia, I think that some folks use a jack to hold the steps up while bolting them on.

Just curious, were your factory steps bolted or welded on? If welded how hard was it to remove? Thanks!

They. Yes my wife does know. They are quite adjustable, there is anothe rposition if you are next to a raised pad. Mine are 3 step. Because they contact the ground, driving away with them down woudl not be a good idea.
