I did not need it on my 2015 or 18.
I could run the rear tiedown pushed in so pin went through inside hole, or pulled out with pin through outside hole.
but I always used the outside hole to keep the fastguns further away from body if camper moved.
Plus I used to have pipe isolation on the rear tie downs so they did not hit my body when I went to remove them.
