Torklifts & Fastgun's

I just finished the purchase of a 10-2 Northern Lite TC & in another month, I will be driving a 2018 Chevy 3500 dually. Now I'm in the market for the tie-downs. When I look at Torklift products, it's a pretty much cut & dried EXCEPT for the Choice: Steel or Aluminum! I would like to ask those who have used or are are familiar with Torklift products, is it worth the extra "roughly" $200 for the Aluminum braces??? Secondly, my truck is Charcoal & Northern Lite Campers are white Fiberglass. Fastguns are offered in Stainless steel, Gray & Black & I've never seen them in person, SO what do you all think would look best with my combination?? Thanks for any information you folks can offer up - Bruce

  • I put steel tie downs on my truck. Up here where they put more salt on the roads to de-ice than a fast food restaurant puts on their fries, it doesn't matter. Steel rusts, aluminum oxidizes when they get in combination with winter road slop. I don't drive the truck much in the winter, but they are already showing signs of rusting after 3 winters, plus driving gravel roads in the far north where they use salt to control dust.
My truck is black, my camper white and my Fastguns are Stainless. Doesn't look too bad, especially when they get covered in dead bugs. They get washed off and a little scrubbing doesn't affect the stainless.

  • I also vote stainless steel fast guns, they look good with anything. I have the standard steel black mounts don't need the aluminum because my truck should never see ice and snow.

  • Bruce, I store my truck for the winter, so I went with steel frame mounts. For the Fastguns you can’t beat the nice shiny stainless steel look.
