Coolbreeze
From the area around Edison and Florence Lake south to both Upper and Lower Peppermint Creek. Most of these areas have the roads closed from November until May. There have been late storms that have kept them closed through the first part of June. I have got a lot of snow clear into the middle of June with low 20's common during these storms. In June.
Very few people will even tow into Kings Canyon National Park and then with only a short tow vehicle. I can't remember the limit. Not much more than a tent trailer. I will only camp up above there, leave my trailer, and drive my truck and camper down into there. To many cars traveling into there to take a risk with a trailer in my opinion.
It's a beautiful area. Very little to see if you only want to see from a vehicle. Might as well look down from above. It is amazing if you spend a night or so and take a good look.
As a kid I had hiked the whole area from Bishop on the eastern Sierras across to the western side. From those hikes and my stays at the Boys Scout camp at Hunnigton Lake, I started Sailing a Hobie Cat up there at Hunnington Lake.
I may even start that back up if I can get the kids interested.
It's a good road up to there, but the water is cold. Kaiser pass road from there up is bad after the top of the pass. The road to Florence is paved except for the areas it travels over solid granite. Same for Edison Lake. If you tow even a tent trailer into there you should have a spotter car in front. Or someone is going to have to back up for a good distance.
If you go over Kaiser Pass in June you will still se a lot of snow in most years. Cal Edison Built the Dams at Edison and Florence And the tunnels that connect them to Hunnington Lake. Lots of these tunnels connect the Dams up high with lower lakes like Millerton and Pine Flat down by Fresno. It must have been an amazing chore working on those dams and tunnels.
Your going to have to zoom in a lot to see Kaiser pass road. Try searching for Florence lake. We stay at Jackass Meadow campground below the dam.
It's tough to find so much beauty without the crowd.
