I wouldn't buy a vehicle that has been rebuilt unless I could see the pictures of it before it was repaired and a list of all damage. I'm sure there are some rebuilt vehicles out there that are worthy of driving but I wouldn't want to take the chance.
I fully agree. Also, bear in mind that pictures might not tell the whole story, such as if a vehicle was a flood salvage, or a theft recovery. Best advice -- just don't buy them. Far more horror stories than "best vehicle I ever owned" stories.
My son bought a salvage vehicle. Got a great discount on it. After 10 years and about 120,000 miles we still haven't figured out what the original damage was and haven't had any trouble out of it. He likes his Tesla better so it isn't the "best vehicle he ever owned".
We know someone(friend of a friend) who bought a salvage Tesla. Got it for a song. Model S. The problem is once it is written off Tesla removes supercharger privileges and he can only charge L2 or use a Chademo adapter at non Tesla fast chargers. For the most part he and she use it for commuting but like to do road trips as well and have to put up with the slower Chademo chargers. Good thing the Chademo network is getting better but would still suck without Supercharger access. Tesla won't budge on their position.
