Totally confused trying to buy travel trailer
I am totally confused and overwhelmed. I am looking to buy a 16' or 19' travel trailer but the more I look at all the information on here and online the more confused I get so I thought I'd take a chance and turn to you all for help. I know there are differing opinions on everything as seen in other threads but maybe you can help me sort out some of the information.
First off I'm buying (when I find one, hopefully soon) a newer (I have a 2002 but only v6 and not 4x4 which I don't like) F150 4x4 V8 to pull a travel trailer to live in full-time. I don't want a big trailer since it's just me and the dog but I don't want to go with one of the 14' or smaller ones either. I'm not technically minded so all the hitch weight calculations and such confound me. I've looked at a few trailers but hate the ones with a dinette table that has bench type seats although I know I might be able to remove that but I'd rather not have to. I like the Casita Freedom Deluxe with the captain's chair but don't really want to pay the prices they want for a new one and I'd prefer a recliner but I know I'd have to buy one of those separately and put it in myself.
I'm figuring a newer trailer would be better since I don't have a lot of technical expertise or experience with fixing things on a TT and I'm told the newer ones are lighter than the old ones. I am limited on budget so don't want to pay more than $10,000 for one. I know I'll also have extra expenses getting it up and running plus I'd like to put in solar so I could dry camp.
I don't know if I'm just living in dream land thinking I could get what I want on a budget price but I know I want to be happy with whatever I get since I'll be living in it and not just taking it out on the occasional camping trip.
Right now I'm visiting in Arizona but most of the year I live in Montana so I'm sure I'll need a 4 season trailer.
I was going to just go to a dealer and see what they would recommend but I'm not sure they would be honest with me or they would try to sell me something that would be totally wrong for me (guess I don't trust salesmen or saleswomen).
I'm not a wimpy woman but when it comes to spending this kind of money I feel a little weak in the knees.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Sorry this is such a long post but I know from other threads on here that details help.
