Grit dog is on it. Maybe find a crane company and see what they have that they're about to throw away. Our policy was that the riggers inspected our chokers and would cut them in half before they were trashed. If you can find one that is Kevlar reinforced that would be a plus.
A true recovery strap is what we used to call a "snatch 'em strap". Like mentioned they are designed to be pulled snug and then allowed to contract a bit to help recovery. Priced a bit more than a tow strap.
