The bottom line is; get what YOU want!
If YOU don't want a 4X4 because you doubt that you will ever need it or use it, then a 4X2 is what you should buy.
If you wish to join the "It is better to have it and never need it, than to not have it and need it!" club, then you should buy a 4X4.
Personally, when I was shopping for a tow vehicle many years ago, I looked for, and found, a Dodge CTD 1 ton dually 4X2. It towed a 32 foot triple slide fifth wheel around the West for a little over 2 years with absolutely no trouble. I never missed four wheel drive, because I didn't take it anywhere that 4X4 would be required. It even hauled hay from the field to our pasture/barn without getting stuck!
The ONLY reason I got rid of that old truck is because I didn't NEED it anymore. The fifth wheel is gone, the horses are gone, I just don't need a 1 ton truck. My current truck has been in four wheel drive ONCE, just to verify that it works. The Jeep hasn't been in four wheel drive for over two years. Not even in winter, and we live on an unplowed country lane!
It is YOUR money, buy what YOU will be happy with!
