Ummm... off the beaten path (and sometimes ON)... NO cell service and can't call tow truck. NOT walking out of back country? Priceless.
Been in a few places over the years where 4WD was mandatory. I personally want the
option to go where 2WD shouldn't go. But that's just me. DH worked in Colorado for a time and he was issued a mountain truck/4WD... it came in handy frequently.
It just depends on what you want to do where you're going.
