I'm a big fan of 4Runners, and have had several. I've also owned a Scamp 16 footer (very similar to the Casita you are getting).
While the 4Runner with the V6 can tow the Casita, it will be a bit of a struggle up hills and if you have the 4Runner loaded. Yes, it can tow it, but it won't be fun.
A better option is a 4Runner with the v8, a Sequoia or Land Cruiser.
We've towed with all three. The Land Cruiser was the best - even a 1996 model with a 6 cyl will tow it nicely.
When towing, you want more power and more braking than you need so as to have a wider safety margin.
