Wow! I forgot to subscribe to my post. I was shocked to see so many wonderful responses in terms of recommendations and thoughts. I was trying really hard to knock the 4 Runner off as my benchmark. We own a Kia Rondo and I was really interested in a Kia Borrego. The V8 will tow 7,500 lbs plus the Limited version has lots of cool options and I can find them with fewer miles and for the same or less cost. BUT, given their limited supply, I was researching up to 500 miles away to find a short list. Between shopping Craigslist and retail sources, I have heard every story line imaginable. In fact, I am really surprised that some of these folks are able to sell anything!!! All is good though. In any case, I am a bit worried that the Borrego was only made one year in the U.S. (continued to be made as the Mojave elsewhere, plus it has the Hyaundi Genesis engine which is nice). In any case, I found an '07 Toyota 4 Runner the next town over from my home about 25 miles away. It is a V8 4X4 with the tow package and all the options we want except leather. Good solid condition, but high miles at 153,000. It is a two owner with the previous owner driving it local for the last 6 years. In order to keep it close to my price point, 4 Runners have higher miles. So, unless something drastic changes on the Borrego front, I think we will buy the 4 Runner on Thursday.
