I have 6.0 k2500 suburban with quad buckets and removable 3rd row. 2451lbs payload and 7600lb tow rating. With those specs my burb is perfect for largest hybrids that can sleep 10 plus. I can tow max 28ft stick and tin bunkbed trailers with side bunks and a super slide. They are not designed for more than 4 comfortably. Extra guests once a year for the couch or dinette. Compromise is needed. Use two vehicles ie 3/4 ton ext cab lb, and a minivan/cuv and get a 32-34ft bunkhouse.
Not a bad thought, but we would like to do some long trips. Inwould hate to take two cars from St. Louis to Texas, Colorado, or South Dakota. I've looked at a few bunkhouses that have double over double bunks in the back that weigh in comfortably. My kids are young so two in each double works fine for the time being. I did look at some nice hybrids when I was thinking about using the current rig to tow, but with the 3.08's, the limit is 6,000#. Goes up to 8,000# with 3.42's. This was optional and the dealer led me to believe I had the tow package. It turns out, I just had the standard tow mode on the column. I won't make that mistake again. Will verify through the RPO's in the future. Rookie mistake. I really don't want to tow with our brand new truck anyway.
