Did you see this thread? http://www.rv.net/forum/index.cfm/fuseaction/thread/tid/28671311/srt/pa/pging/1/page/1 He is thinking of selling his Suburban 8.1 for a smaller TV. he may be someone you want to compare notes with.
Hey! That's me! :-)
Not sure I'd say a smaller TV. I'm still looking at 3/4ton Suburban's, just maybe a newer one with the 6.0/6speed.
OP, I will tell you that my suburban is AWESOME for my family of 5+dog. I've got a camper with 7 separate beds, the KZ Frontier and the 8.1 pulls it effortlessly. In fact it's just a bit more than I feel I need sometimes. We camped as a family in the Smokey Mountains this summer. After a week of my family camping in the camper, I was nowhere ready to come home. I would have stayed out there another week or two, easy. The drive to the Smokies from Kansas was a breeze for me. My Dad followed me with his 2007 1500HD with the 6.0 and 4 speed, and I was waiting on him constantly on the trip. This thing just eats up hills without sweating. Again, it just seems maybe a BIT too much for me.
PM me if you ever want to talk or compare notes.
Thanks!
