I spent a few weeks in Wales this summer, lots of trailers on the road and essentially all pulled by (small diesel) cars. I didn't see a single swaying excessively or having trouble keeping up, the sample size was only about 100 or so and maybe I was only seeing the exceptions. ;-)
The roads are far more narroe amd twisty than normal for North America too, and with no shoulders and stone walls at the edges in most places they would be very unforgiving if they were having control issues.
The big lie is to undersell a cars towing capability in North America, to upsell to 250s for pop-ups.
