Towed for years with a 1/2 ton. Thought all was good until a long trip 4 years ago when I came home and announced, “I’m done with this. Tired of being underpowered and creeping over the Cascades.” Was ready to sell the TT too.
I eventually traded the F-150 for the 3/4 ton in my signature. A new lease on camping life, and I can’t wait to head out. Love my Duramax + Allison tranny...way safer and enjoyable towing.
As an RVer my advice is to err on the side of being over-powered rather than under-powered. If you’re going camping why not enjoy the “getting there” too?
