Question is will there be a noticeable difference in the newer trucks ability to tow?
In 2014 GM came out with the ECO TECH 3 engines. The 5.3 was bumped up to 355 hp and 383 torque and was a huge difference compared to the older 5.3 versions like the wifes '06 5.3 4L60E 3.42 gears.
She now has a 2016 5.3 with the 6 speed 3.42 gears. Both trucks were used on occasion to pull my 10k car hauler with a blue tractor with 9560 lbs on the trailers axles.
Nite and day difference.
Especially the torque/hp. The '06 struggled severally with lots of rpms on any hill or a head wind.
The 2016 just humps up and keeps the load going without all the rpms and noise.
Having towed for a living with the old 454/460 carb'd trucks I'm not a fan of screaming V8 engines anymore.
Of course the 5.3 is not it he same league as my Dodge/Cummins with a EDGE box for pulling duties....but I'm impressed.
