Tow with a Jeep 4x4 8 cylinder vs truck?

Hi, we are looking at travel trailers 25' to 29'. We do not have a vehicle for towing yet. We have heard that a Jeep Cherokee 8 with 4x4 would pull 7200#'s. We were interested in the Jeep because when not camping it would be our main vehicle. But, we DO NOT want to take any chances, if it's just OK to tow with. Would you experts please let us know your thoughts? Thanks for your help!!
  • Cherokee standard tow capacity is 2000 lbs
    and 4500 if specially equipped

But I cannot find the gvwr for them and I think that will limit you to less than 4500 lb trailer
  • The big issue with the jeep is length. Towing a long trailer with a short vehicle is like the tail wagging the dog. I would suggest a longer truck over the jeep.

Well at least they're asking, something not enough newbies do. Agree though, generalities mean little, it's all in the specific numbers for the particular vehicle the OP intends to use for towing.
