Towing - 1991 26ft Innsbruck with 2001 Lincoln Navigator ?

Having trouble finding info on the '91 trailer, and the towing capacity of the Navigator.

Planning to use a sway bar - but other than that I'm basically lost.

Can anyone offer some advice? Even if not a complete answer, it may get me further along the road.

Thanks.

:) Hi, I have towed for ten years with my 2000 Lincoln Navigator; My Lincoln's tow rating is 8,900 lbs. Your 2001 should be the same.

Note: My Lincoln is 2 wheel drive. A 4X4 will be somewhere around 200 - 400 lbs less
  • What a way to welcome a new member!

Yes, ask the dealer to run your vin. they will give you all the options it came with, what gear ratio and so on. as for the trailer, it may be to old for the manuf. to give you any info. there should be a sticker on the side that will give you it`s GVWR and axle ratings. you will have to take it to a scale to determine it`s actual real world ready to tow weight. Yes you will need a WD hitch, doubt you will need a sway bar though, but it definitely would be good to have!

    Good luck!
  • Thanks to Tomkaren, and the others who provided information. Unfortunately, there seems to be an issue of a duplicate post. I have postponed my RV trip and am looking into it. Yes, it seems this was posted in trailers and towing - not sure if that was my wife? She is out of town since noon today looking for some truck parts. Anyway, I will get to the bottom of it in a couple days. My apologies. The Park has agreed to extend my arrival time, thank goodness.

You dont say what info you need about your trailer but I assume it's weight.

Call the Manufacturer (I have done this with my Innsbruck from 2004) with your VIN number and they can tell you anything you want to know.

As for your Navigator I would try to pull it without the swaybars first to actually see what is happening. You may need a Weight Distributing setup...but I seriously doubt you need a sway bar.

Similarly if you give your VIN to a Lincoln dealer he shoould be able to print you a build sheet for your vehicle. Which should answer any questions.

Great advice. That way you will really know what you need.
  • Funny, some guy posts twice and gets reprimanded. In other threads guys hammer on each other and their brands and nothing. No one seems to care or discourage it.

Sorry to the OP for the sidetrack.

I'll post whatever I want whether you like it or not.

During the latest troubles on the site I get right to the point of posting and get a Connection reset page when I try to post. Then I try another portal, like woodalls, go back start all over and I may just post in another forum. Unkowingly my first post actually got thru but there was no indication of it to me.

I know that to many double posting is seen as a heinous crime on this forum and it should be discouraged. But maybe a question to the op might be in order first?
